Welcome to another week's worth of wallpapers! This collection definitely took me longer to do - but I played around more with colours, fonts and styles and I hope you love it! I decided this week's theme should be all-around fitness, helping motivate you either to get started, go and do some exercise or push you through a hard workout.

THE HEALTH DIARIES: Working with a Personal Trainer - FAQS
Today will mark my 6th session with my personal trainer, and it's definitely been an experience. Since telling people I signed up with a PT, I've had a few questions asked - and I also reached out on my socials to see if anyone had any questions and I had a few back. So for today, I thought I'd do a little FAQ post around my experience.

The Health Diaires: Getting a Personal Training
I feel like I have always been one of those people that needs a stick shoved up their arse to get them to do anything remotely physical. Not literally, obviously, but it's true. My husband, and probably my Dad, will quite happily verify this. It's not that I don't enjoy it, it's just the will to get up and do something when my bed is so very warm and cosy. I've definitely gotten better, and I've certainly lost the majority of the weight I wanted to loose - but I just can't seem to get across that finish line.

I Did the Great South Run.... And Survived!
Yesterday I completed the Great South Run. Which is a sentence I didn't ever think I would say. When I saw my family after my Dad said "There's no way you would have been able to do that year ago", to which I replied "There's not way I would have been able to do that 6 months ago". And that couldn't be more true. Thousands of people do the run every year, but for me - completing this, and being able to do it just means more to me than I can ever really explain. But I'm going to try anyway...

THE PCOS Diaries: Friendly Breakfast Smoothie Bowls
I've never really been a morning person. Which generally means I usually sacrifice getting up in time to have breakfast by having those extra few previous moments snuggled in my duvet cocoon. However, when I do get around to having breakfast - I always feel better for the day, more set up and ready to go. Plus, with PCOS it's so important to have all three meals of the day and eat regularly to maintain a steady metabolism and help your insulin than skip pieces. So I thought it was about time I grow up, and get my breakfast hat on.

Health & Fitness Update: February 2017
So it's the beginning of February, so it's time for me to give you an update on how I've been getting on with my health and fitness kick. January was quite a good time to start as it was a fairly quiet month, and I was doing dry January as well - therefore the lack of wine probably helped! I just need to bring that into February as well.
So without further ado, let me five you an update on where I am after month one!
WEIGHT LOSS
How much did I lose in January? 8lb
How far off target? 1.6 stone
On target? Just 1lb behind...
I started this journey at 12.10st, and I'm now down to 12.2st, which I'm so happy about. Super proud face!
FITNESS
Current routine: Tuesdays is LBT day, Thursdays is Body Pump, and Sunday is either Body Pump or general gym session.
Plan for February: Carry on the routine
HEALTHY EATING
Typical weekday breakfast: None
Typical weekend breakfast: Cereal
Typical weekday lunch: Mugshot
Typical weekend lunch: Salad or sandwich
Typical weekday dinner: Hairy Dieter's meal, or Weight Waters frozen meal after the gym

I'm making sure not to overdo it so take the weekends off of being too good with food, but during the week I stay good and motivated - thankfully! I still have a long way to go but so far, I'm really pleased with how it's all going. Let's keep it moving!

Staying motivated to work out
As a new gym goer, I’m going to be the first to admit it’s
hard to bring in motivations for something my body really isn’t used to. By the
end of a gym session it feels wrecked and exhausted, and doesn’t particularly
want to do anything again. Plus, surely there are better ways to spend an hour?
So many people join the gym in January, and leave by the middle of February,
but I’m determined to be in the minority and stay. The only way I’m going to do
this is to stay motivated, and keep going.
But how do I do this? Here’s my top tips to staying
motivated.
DO SHORT CHUNKS
Don’t spend hours and hours at the gym in one session, ease
yourself and do it in bite sized pieces. It’ll be much more manageable, and
much more enjoyable. I do hour long classes 2-3 times a week, or an hour’s gym
session. No more. If I do more, it takes longer for my body to recover, which
ultimately gives me an excuse not to go next time. It then also doesn’t take up
your entire morning, afternoon or evening (depending on when you go). Which can
be demotivating in itself. A quick hour’s session, then back home for a meal.
If I go in the evening I try to go as soon after work as I can so I have the
rest of my evening, or if I go on the weekend I’ll go as soon as I get up so
the rest of my day is free. Short bursts is much better.
SET UP A ROUTINE
Something that works for me every time is having a routine
and a plan. I then know that next week I’ll be doing it at that time on that
day, and it’s already set in my mind. I work so much better to a routine than
any way else. Generally I try to do an exercise class every Tuesday and
Thursday, and then I also go on a Sunday. As I go to classes you have to book
these in as soon as they become available, so I’ll go on when I know they
become available, book myself in and then I’m done. I’m going, and there’s nada
I can do about it.
GO WITH A BUDDY
It’s so much easier to go, if you do with someone. I go with
my bestie, and usually her mum, to classes each week. If you go with someone,
it makes it so much harder to back out or find an excuse as you feel like
you’re letting them down, but also they motivate you when you’re there. You’re
in the same boat, both working your arse off in the same class or on the same
machine. You can work together to keep each other going. It’s always much more
fun going with someone as well. In circuits we work together, and try to make
it fun as we go onto each exercise. In LBT I usually get my bestie going “come
on, do the harder version, keep going!” She is my self-appointed personal
trainer… Still haven’t decided if this is a good thing or not. But she does
help.
MEASURE RESULTS
The most motivating thing for me? Seeing the results. The
first week I measured myself I lost 5lbs, and immediately wanted to run back to
the gym and do some more work. If you can see the results, and you like them,
this is the best motivation. I would highly recommend having a goal, whether
its weight, measurements, or fitting in a particular dress size, and keeping
track of how far you need to do. Measure this weekly, the same time and day
every week, and watch how you go.
BE REALISTIC
This is so incredibly important. Don’t set unrealistic goals
that will never be achieved, as you won’t see the results you want and you’ll
quickly become unmotivated. If you think you’re going to go every evening after
work, scale it back – don’t make it your entire life. You still need to have
fun outside of the gym. The minute you start to feel it’s not working, or it’s
not worth it, is the minute you quit.
Hopefully these tips are going to help. I’m still new at all
of this healthy eating, keeping fit malarkey. However, as someone who has the
lowest willpower in the world, these tips have really helped me stay focused
and motivated, and hopefully they’ll do the same for you. Let me know if you
have any tips for me as well, I’d love to get some more in the bank!
Much love, Lisa May

Eating Good Food and Staying Healthy
It's not always easy trying to be healthier, especially after the indulgence of Christmas and New Year. And for me, I love food, so that makes it even harder. However, I've found a couple of ways to that mean I can still have some of my favourite meals, and still keep on track with trying to keep healthy.
Is that a thing? Yes, absolutely. Otherwise I'd never be able to lose weight.
So how have I been doing it? For me it's so important to still enjoy my food, otherwise I'd never be able to stick to it. I'm a foodie. But these are just some things I've done that's really helping me stay on track.
REPLACE CARBY STUFF WITH SPINACH
So I love me a bit of pasta, and it's good every now and then, but having it all the time can obviously put the weight on. What I've started doing is swapping it out for spinach. So when we have spaghetti bolognese (a fave), leave out the spag for me, throw in the spinach and a bit sweetcorn. You're not going to be able to cut out all carbs, but it's a good way to still enjoy your favourite food. If you can't cut it out completely, then just do a smaller portion of pasta, and pile it on top of the spinach.
NEED SOMETHING SWEET? GRAB SOME FRUIT
I can't help it, I love me some chocolate, and after Christmas our house is full of it. But, I'm trying to be good and not eat it all in one go. Waah. So when I have that sugar craving, I've been reaching for a juicy Pink Lady apple instead. It's really nice and sweet, and so tasty. I cut it up into small bite sized pieces so it looks like more than it is, It also settles that sugar craving. It apples don't float your boat, grab some grapes, or even some plums.
PUT IT IN A WINE GLASS
So, I've started doing dry January - always good when you give up yummy food as well. So, to help stop my wine craving, I've been drinking things out of a wine glass. Yup, it actually, weirdly, helps. We recently did a little dinner party for our parents, and instead of wine I was having Shloer, very tasty, non-alcoholic, and in a wine glass. Yup, not sure why it works. But it totally does.
GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK
You can't be good every minute of everyday, it's just not possible. So make sure you give yourself a break. For me, weekends are a bit of a free pass. I don't have to worry about it, I can have a takeaway, break for lunch, cheese and chocolate. It helps during the week when I really fancy something, I just have to remember I can have what I want at the weekend. And if you go out for a meal, don't worry, do what you want. As long as you don't go totally mad, you're fine.
The main thing to remember is to be smart. Don't go silly, and don't do a fad - they never work in the long run. Just be sensible, and remember to listen to your body. If it's craving something, it's because it needs it. If you find you trip, don't hold it against yourself - you're only human. If you have any tips, I'd love to hear them as well!

Healthy & Fitness Update: January 2017
This is it, as promised, my first fitness/healthy/weight loss blog post. For me this whole ‘journey’ is going to help me become a healthy, more energised, more confident person. I know a lot of other people out there generally go through the same feelings I do. So for me, I want to share this part of my life in the hope it may help or inspire others who feel the same as me, and want to do something about it.
As I said in this post, I know I’m not fat, and I’m not a big person. But I’m fed up of feeling unhealthy, unfit and generally unhappy with how I look. So I decided to do something about it. As part of that, I’m going to share a post with you guys at the beginning of every month to let you know how I go on for the past month, and if I have any plans for the month coming. As this is the first post, this is generally just kicking it out, letting you know where I am have been. I've already started changing my diet so it's healthier, and I'm sorting out my fitness routine.
Also, any trolls who decide to come and mock me for my weight, size or anything else – just do everyone a favour and go somewhere else.
WEIGHT LOSE
How far off end goal? 2 stone

Health | A Simple & Healthy Daily Lunch
As part of my healthy diet I needed to sort out my lunch time habits. Taking lunch into work can be annoying, and honestly you probably usually end up going for the easiest option. However, I've decided that from now on I'll be popping together a healthy lunch to last me the week each weekend. Something simple I can take it that's tasty, and also healthy.

The Health Post | Top 3 Fruit Smoothies
As you know I recently bought myself a new blender to help create some homemade smoothies to help with me new healthy eating resolution. I've tried a fed different fruity ones (sans banana) and have come up with my top 3 (wahoo). I have to admit - all of which are very berry based as I am a bit fussy about my fruit...
When I say cup, I basically mean a standard mug size and that fits in these glasses perfectly. I think it's US book I was using as inspiration so I think that's why it was all in cups? I basically had a play with different ones and different fruits and ended up with these as my favourites. They are supposed to be "All-Day Fat Burning Smoothies" so they can't be bad!
Let me know if you try any of these - tweet me or instagram (@topazandmay) as I'd love to see what you think!

The Health Post | Duronic Sports Blender
This is my year for getting really healthy and one way I'd like to do that is to have a smoothie a day - home made, of course. To do that I needed a smoothie maker. I scoured the internet for one and was a touch overwhelmed by choice, but then I came upon this one on Amazon for £15.
One thing I liked about this one is that it comes with two travel cups, both of which you use to put onto the blender so your drink blends inside the cup - minimising washing (always a fan of minimising washing). The travel aspect was really important for me as I wanted to be able to take one to work with me every day and not have it spill all over the inside of my bag.
This is so incredibly easy to use as well. I was worried that at only £15 it would be a case of cheap tat, but it's very robust - the blades haven't faltered once - and again, super easy. Just put your fruit or whatever you choose in the cup. Put on the lid (with the blades) and put on, turn on and voila. You can also push down to increase the liquid consistency.
I actually couldn't champion this enough. It's really encouraged me to make a smoothie everyday since I've had it and they reduce the fruit enough so I'm not gagging on bits and pieces. It's perfect for me and I couldn't be happier with it.
I found it here on Amazon in case you'd like to know more or read more reviews. I will be doing a post soon with my five favourite smoothies to make as well so if there's any you'd like me to try just pop them in the comments below!
What smoothies would you recommend for me to try?

Outfit | Winter Exercise
I have been getting a lot more serious about exercise lately - I have a a gym membership and a sudden desire to go running (if it wasn't dark everytime I wanted to go that is). The only this I lack is a good gym wardrobe.
At the moment I am popping on some old leggings, a baggy tshirt and a jumper. Comfy yes, but looking good?
Not a chance... I've popped together three looks here to inspire me into sorting out my exercise wardrobe and yours... And let's face it. Who doesn't love pink? These types of outfits are great and inspire me to get fit and healthy - what about you?

Tshirt: Footlocker | Shorts: Dance Direct | Shoes: Footlocker | Towel: Sports Direct
I LOVE Zumba. I took part in a Zumbathon a couple of years back and although hard, it was so much fun. Now I go every week with my bestie Amber and we love it. I always feel like I've had a good work out but I enjoy it so I always want to go back. A good airy outfit is perfect for a hot work out studio.
Hoodie: Dance Direct | Leggings: JD Sports | Bottle: Sports Direct
When I push myself, I really do enjoy going for a good run. I pop in my ipod and just zone out for an hour. It's getting colder so popping on a hoodie and leggings will help to me that bit warmer! Running is so good for working every part of your body, and helping clear your mind if it's in need of a breeze through.
Top: Footlocker | Bra: Footlocker | Bag: Sports Direct | Leggings: JD Sports
When it's just too darn dark outside I like going to the gym itself. Have a go on the treadmill for a good half an hour and working it out on the cross trainer. I really do need a sports bra - normal bra's really just aren't good enough! Like running I just pop my ipod in and go for it, head cleared and body healthier - well, it's getting there!
I usually go in waves of trying to be healthy and do exercise, such as before holiday or after Christmas, but really I want to stay this way all year round and everyday. I'm not going to pretend I'm the expert - but I am getting there with staying fit.
What do you wear to stay fit?
