My Top 3: Glossier Make Up

Have you heard of Glossier? No? Have you been living under a rock? Glossier is quite possibly one of the most hyped up brands I've come across since I started blogging, and honestly I was pulled into the hype. So much so that I have actually tried almost every single product from their make up range. I'm sorry bank balance, I truly am. But - is the hype justified?

You may have seen in my recent mixed beauty haul video that I purchased two products from the Maybelline Fit Me range - the pressed powder and bronzer. Now I used to stay away from Maybelline products - thanks dream matte mousse foundation - but recently I've fallen so in love with so many of their products so when I was looking for a powder and new drugstore bronzer I decided to give them a whirl. So how have they faired?

I've really been looking into the magic of powder recently. Since reading Lauren Conrad's Beauty book where they recommend applying powder on each layer of make up to help it stay in place. I'm not that obsessive with it - however after I apply all my base products - prime, foundation, concealer and highlighter - I pop a powder on.

Lately I've been loving this beauty. It's a bargain from Collection and one I would highly recommend. It's a transluscent powder, so it's not illuminating, it's just your usual finishing powder. I use my Real Techniques Powder Brush and dust it lightly over my face. This is such a perfect powder - I love loose powder as it gives a more natural look. This powder not only mattifies my oily skin but keeps the base on for longer. I love it.

So today is the start of lent... This year I have decided to give up shopping (for myself) for lent. Eek! It's going to be a tough one, especially with the blog but we'll see how I go! I'm actually really looking forward to using the time to do some switching up my make up posts and doing a bit more features than reviews on here. Wish me luck! I'm going to need it...

The Review | Bourjois Java Rice Powder

Up until recently I was just very blah about the necessity of powder. I just didn't really understand what it was meant to be used for or why I should bother adding it to my routine. But lots of people raved about different types so I decided to bite the bullet and get one. I'd heard loose powder was the one to go for and I fell in love with the packaging of this product so voila - it was now mine. At the same time I told myself to buy a proper powder brush as well so I went for the Real Techniques Powder Brush.

Bourjois Java Rice Powder is one of their "vintage" products which was re released last year as part of their anniversary. I love the packaging, it's so kitch and very cute. It smells like make up - if that makes sense. It's very heavily scented and really does smell like face powder. Luckily I don't mind it too much. It's an illuminating powder, but I find it's not too in your face, it just makes the face look like it has a really healthy glow. I actually love it. I was very worried it was going to bring my skin up in break outs but it's fine. It keeps my face looking nice and matte and my foundation stay in place.

For just £9.99 it's really not a bad buy and it's converted me completely to loose powder. You can get it here from Boots or your local Boots/Superdrug store.

Make Up | Mac Adored

MAC MINERALIZE SKINFINISH IN ADORED £22

First of all let's just take a second to swoon over how pretty this is. Swooooon. Probably the main reason I got it as I'm still not really sure what it is meant to be. Blusher, powder, highlighter? Who knows... What I do know is what I use it for and I love it for that.

It's described by Mac as a velvet soft powder, ideal for highlighting. Which luckily is exactly what I've been using it as. I pop this on with my buffing brush lightly on my face as a powder, so it's not too shimmery, and then with a blush brush on the apples of my cheeks for more of a highlight on top of my blush. It's really buildable so you can see the difference and it's also such a pretty colour.

Adored is described as a coral with a light pearl beige running through it - which you can see. To be honest I don't see a lot of colour on my face apart from the shimmery pearl, which I do love, so if you want this as a blusher you need to look elsewhere - you won't get a colour pay off here.

For £22 it's not too bad. To be honest you expect to pay a bit more for Mac more for the brand then the product. What I will say is I have little confidence in the packaging - I've only had it a couple of weeks and already it's threatening to come out of the pan and the lid is looking a touch flimsy. Otherwise it is a truly gorgeous product.

Rimmel Match Perfection Compact Powder

RIMMEL MATCH PERFECTION COMPACT POWDER IN TRUE IVORY £5.99

I bought this powder to go with the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation (review here). It was 3 for 2 and I've never really bothered with a powder before so I thought it was about time I gave it a go.

This powder is meant to be ultra creamy, lightweight and super blendable to leave you with a natural looking finish. It's also meant to last up to 14 hours.

For me, it is a very creamy powder, very soft and really easy to apply. It comes in quite a large pot to have to house the pad underneath. Not a big fan of the pad, but useful for on the go touch ups. I do just tend to use this on long days when I need a touch up - like when I'm at work all day and need to go straight to uni.

It's a very adaptable colour, very transluscent so I've found it can go on top of different foundations, however it is better over a yellow toned foundation as opposed to a pink one. I wouldn't say it lasted for 14 hours, or that I really noticed, but for what I use it for I really like it. So easy to use on the go and it's great at combating any shine or oily patches.

If you have read my reviews on the foundation version you will know that it did bring me out in spots, however I haven't had the same experience with this - maybe because I don't use it every day, but overall, really happy with this product!
