The Face | Elsa from Frozen

I thought I'd use todays face as a good excuse to use some Disney inspiration. I went to see Frozen recently with the girls (Adam refused to take me) and loved it completely. After looking at photos and online I wanted to recreate Elsa's look.

Pale face, dark eyes and lips. Really very gorgeous and in the moment with winter right now. I used a foundation that was slightly lighter than my usual skin, then covered in a light translucent powder to try and make me look as pale as possible. Then I used a plumish/nude pink blush over the apples of my cheeks and up into the hair line. Then dusted the whole lot with highlighter.

Next is the eyes - probably the most prominent part of Elsa's make up. I used a dark plum shadow over the entire lid, then the same plum with a couple of extra layers in the crease and blended into the corners. Then liquid liner over the lid with a slight wing. No liner on the waterline but plenty of lashings of mascara.

For the lips I used a plum, not really showed too well in these photos, but it is a very near match to Elsa's. The key to Elsa's look is pale, but dark features. I love the eyes in this. Obviously I don't look like the picture as I'm not illustrated, but hey. I think I've done pretty well considering I'm not a make up artist!

Products used: Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation; Stila Convertible Colour; Mac Mineralize Skin Finish is Adored; Estee Lauder Pure COlour Raisins; L'Oreal SuperLiner in Black; No7 Extravagant Volume Mascara; Mac Plumful

Would you try this make up look?

The How To | New Year Face

Happy New Year everyone! As promised a new post on the first day of 2014 - eek! Over the next couple of weeks I'll be popping up some "Best of" posts as well as the usual resolution bits and bobs.
I am working today so couldn't do too much of a heavy New Years. I just went round to the besties house with the boyf and her boyf and we had a nice evening of games and drink. Perfect way to bring in the New Year with my two favourite people in the world!

I wanted to show you my New Years face. It occured to me I do a lot of reviews, but it might be nice to see some of these products in action so I'm starting a new feature. First up - New Years! Even though I was staying in I still wanted to make an effort and look that little bit glam.

Products used:
Clinique Stay Matte Foundation | Soap & Glory Kiss Ass Concealer | Nars Deep Throat Blusher | MAC Adored MSF | Estee Lauder Pure Colour Eyeshadow Duo in Raisins | L'Oreal SuperLiner in Black | No7 Extreme Lashes Mascara | 17 Deluxe Lipstick in Prohibition
What was your New Years face? Did you have a good evening?

FOTD | February

PRODUCTS USED: BOURJOIS 123 PERFECT FOUNDATION IN SHADE 52  |  17 SHIMMER BRICK  |  SLEEK BLUSH IN ROSE GOLD  |  SLEEK EYESHADE IN SEA SHELL & OYSTER |  MAC EYE PENCIL IN DUCK  |  CHANEL INIMITABLE MASCARA  |  RIMMEL KATE MATTE LIPSTICK IN 107  |  NATIO MOISTURISING LIPGLOSS

I'm trying to do one face of the day for everymonth - basically just showcasing how my face looked the majority of the time during it... This is my February face - well, towards the end of it anyway!

So I started (after prepping my skin) with my Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation, which although not my favourite foundation, it does brighten my dull skin which I really like. I then popped on the two middle colours from my 17 Shimmer Brick for contour. I usually use the lightest colour from this to highlight my cheeks as well.

After thhat I applied my Sleek blush in Rose Gold, it has a gold shimmer running through so negates the need for a highlighter, but I still like to use one. I used two colours from a Sleek eyeshadow palette, sea shell a deep bronze gold and oyster, a pure white for the eyelids and the inner corners, then finished it off with my Mac eye pencil on the water line and smudged as a liner on top.

For the lips, I used Kate Matte 107, which is usually a lot darker, however I applied this with my Real Techniques Detailing Brush (discovered it's perfect for applying lipstick) so that it's more a muted colour that full on dark red. Then to add some moisture I popped on some Natio Moisturising Lipgloss.

All in all I really like this face, especially the lips - using a brush is a great way to wear bright lipsticks without them being too bright and in your face, a tip I will be contiuning to use!!

face of the day #4

OH MY GOD IT'S MY FACE!

I know it's been a while since you've seen it... So I thought I would treat you with a little FOTD, just to wet your appetite until I get a few outfit posts sorted for you. I blame the boyfriend, we used to have a little OOTD schedule but that's all gone to pot now the sun goes down earlier and he finishes work late. Boo!

Anywho, this is my current non work face...

base:
la roche posay effaclar duo  |  fade out white moisturising cream  |  l'oreal lumimagique primer  |  clinique stay matte make up in ivory
cheeks:
bourjois bronzing powder  |  no7 natural blush in soft damsal
eyes:
chanel intense eye liner pencil  |  chanel mascara
lips:
rimmel Kate Moss Matte in 107

I don't actually know what mascara it is, my mum got a free sample of it and she can't remember which one boo, but I am really enjoying it! And I LOVE my new lipstick, its such a deep wine colour and so apt for winter. It's a colour I never considered wearing before so I'm incredibly pleased! And yes, I'm wearing a cute little hat because it is cold outside, very cold!

What's your winter FOTD?

Face of the Day #3

It's been a while since I've done a face of the day, and my make up routine has changed a lot since the last one so I thought it was about time I showed you what make up I use on a daily basis

benefit porefessional
rimmel wake me up foundation in soft beige
bourjois bronzing powder
no7 natural blush in soft damson
topshop kohl pencil in kohl
clinique high lengths mascara
l'oreal caresse lipstick in lovely rose

It has literally just occurred to me writing this that all of these products I have started using since blogging - which confirms all my suspicions that blogging is bad for my bank balance!
I love this face, especially the lips as they are a bit different for me but it's still a subtle make up look which I like to go for in everyday use.

Save Face

Ever since doing my blog I have discovered a variety of beauty products and have consequently been using a variety of different products in my everyday routine!

Usually it consisted on the same foundation, blush, eye liner etc but I have widened my range a little bit ... Here is today's face:

Foundation: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Soft Beige
Bronzer: No7 Bronzing Pearls
Eyeliner: Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in Black
Mascara: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Waterproof Mascara in Black
Lips: Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

I try not to use a load of make up cause my skin has a habit of breaking out so I usually used a tinted moisturizer but sometimes I find it doesn't quite do the trick! Which is why I have started using Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (post to come on this!).

Hope you like :)
