The Review | Bourjois Aqua Lacque

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on these, but I decided to just give them a go and make up my own mind. Bourjois have a lot of new releases going on at the moment and these were the ones I was most excited about so I'm glad I did. But which side of the fence do I fall on?

The Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Lacque Liquid Lipsticks (longest name ever) boast mirror like shine, intense colour and hydration. What isn't there to love about this description going into the warmer months? I picked up three colours, 01 Appechissant, a lovely natural my lips but better rose, 04 Viens si tu roses is a deeper, plumier pink and 08 Babe idole is a bright coral pink - thanks for the complicated names Bourjois. They are very pigmented when you put them on and if you use them as a liquid lipstick then they do have intense colour.

The way I like to use these is apply lightly as you would a lip gloss, and then blend with your index finger. I find if I just leave it instead of blending it feels a bit too heavy and watery which isn't particually comfortable, but if I blend lightly these feel very comfortable and keep their colour and hydration. They do live up to the aqua in their name, they do feel very watery when you apply - another reason I like the blend - but they are very hydrating.

I wouldn't personally market these as a "liquid lipstick" - I definitely this these are more on the lipgloss side of things. The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks are definitely more along the liquid lipstick lines, however I didn't get on with these so much so I definitely prefer these products.

For summer I do think these are perfect. Used as I've said above I love these. They're light, comfortable and look so pretty as well. My favourite colour is probably 04 Viens si tu roses, I just think it's a gorgeous colour for summer that's not too in your face, and the glossiness tones down the pigment which is great. 01 Appechissant is also perfect over the top of Rimmels Exaggerate Lipliner in East End Snob - probably my favourite everyday combo at the moment. These will be definitely be reached for continually over the next few summery months.

  1. I haven't tried these or the stains yet but both get a good wrap! I think I'll hold out to purchase the glosses until the warmer months (we're currently in winter here in Aus) as you said the lightness and hydrating formulation would be perf for that time of year :)

Definitely more of a gloss than a stain/liquid lipstick :)
