It's that time of year where the weather's getting colder, nights are getting darker and mornings are getting less and less tolerable. This also means it's gotten to that time of the year where nails get more muted, skin gets paler and lips get darker. Because of this I thought it was time I had a good old rummage through my lipstick draw and picked out my top five autumn shades.
For me the theme with autumnal lips is to embrace the darkness, grab berry shades, deeper reds and browns. I do love a good darker lip this time of year.
The Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick in Keep It Classy, a deep mauve colour that really surprised me with how much it suits me. These are really pigmented lipstick's in general and I love them as a product, long lasting and the colours are gorgeous. Keep it Classy is the perfect transitional shade as it's not too deep and berry - but just enough that it can transition you into the deeper berry tones.
I've never been one to rave about Topshops lipsticks, I never bought into the hype personally. However, Screen Siren changed all of that for me. This is a beautiful deep red - not too yellow or blue, just the perfect red. This summer called for orange reds, but the autumn is calling for true reds so I would definitely recommend embracing it.
This product is so pigmented so you would have to be brave to wear this one. Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Eclipse is an amazing purplish berry that I love. It has a dark richness to it with a glossy finish, but is super long lasting as it's a lacquer. It's great if you're brave enough to go out with a POW lip on.
I've had this lipstick for a long time and is also a long term favourite of YT sensation Zoella. The Rimmel Kate Matte in 107 is beautiful and probably the ultimate shade for autumn and winter. It's a deep red, dark and berry like but still incredibly wearable - it's not too overwhelming. Long lasting and matte it's probably my favourite of the bunch.
Lastly is a lip liner, that works well underneath most of the products already mentioned, or even on it's own with a balm underneath. The Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Obsession is a deep berry red, long lasting and not too drying at all. It's the ultimate autumn liner and I would recommend it to anyone. I love this under 107, but also with a touch of balm underneath as well.
