Style | Braving the Cut

For a very long time now I've been growing my hair, and being super careful what I do to it to make sure it was in tip top shape for the wedding, and long enough for the style I wanted. So when my first hair appointment came around after the wedding I felt it was time to brave the cut and go for a different style.

Just to give you a bit of background on my hair type - it's very thick, and there's an awful lot of it. So where it was long as well, there was so much of it to maintain. So when I went to the hairdresser I wanted a different look, something a bit more modern.

The hairdressers I go to is a small chain down south called Hair OTT, and in the past year I've found a particular hairdresser in the Waterlooville brand called Katie that I really trust and just gets exactly what I'm after every time I go. For a few months now we've been putting some blonde highlights through, however keeping them really natural and flicking them up near to the roots as opposed to all the way up.

When I went this time the first thing I asked is if we could go a bit lighter through the ends and a bit blonder. I felt like it'd gone a bit dull and I wanted some brighter blonde run through. But I also asked if we could take a few inches off the end, and go just below shoulder length. However I wanted to keep long layers running through and shaping around the face.

I'm so pleased with how it all came out and I love the shape and length. The colour is the perfect blonde and looks so natural, it's blended up near the roots - so it's got a bit more of a balayage/ombre feel to it which I love. It feels so much lighter, and feels a lot more stylish as well. It's amazing what a refresh can do to your confidence and attitude, and I feel like a new season was the perfect time to try a new style.

What's your autumn hair change up?
