Beauty | Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipsticks

When I was younger Chanel make up was always the brand I wanted to try. I guess it was more because of the sleek, black, statement packaging than anything else. And for someone who is a bit of a lipstick addict anyway, it's surprising that I haven't picked a Chanel one up sooner. But in September I popped my Chanel lipstick cherry and I haven't looked back.

Whenever my Mum takes out her Chanel lipstick I have always loved the packaging, the way it just pops out of the tube and the gold stick itself. It's just super super classy - everything I'm not really. But a lady can pretend! When I went on a girly shopping trip with my Mum I thought it was about time I looked at their shades and picked up my own little black tube. I was immediately drawn to the description of the Rouge Allure Velvet range. I prefer a more matte lip finish, but don't always like the feel or the texture, but a velvet finish is right up my street.

The texture is super creamy and comfortable, and glides on incredibly easily. It's like a second skin, it doesn't feel like you're wearing anything which I love. The finish is gorgeous as well, not glossy or super shiny, but not too matte either. It's the perfect every day finish. The lasting power is great as well, lasting a good few hours before you need to reapply.

The first colour I picked up was La Raffinee, which is a gorgeous autumnal nude shade. It has a touch of berry to it, but is still subtle enough to get away with being the perfect everyday shade. I've taken to wearing this most days and it's quickly become my go to lipstick. The name is translated to "the refined", which I think is the perfect description. It's a very sophisticated shade - I love it. It makes me feel very grown up.

The second shade I picked up more recently was L'exuberante, or 'the exubarent'. This is an absolutely gorgeous warm pink shade, and is one of my Mum's favourites. It's the perfect pink for my skin tone and isn't too bright and out there that you can't wear it as and when you feel like it. It's great for evenings out, dinners with friends or if you just feel like wearing something a bit extra special for the day.

I'm besotted with this range of lipsticks, and I'll definitely be picking more up in the future. At £26 a go they're not the healthiest addictions for the bank account, but you have to treat yourself occassionally right. And if you can't treat yourself with Chanel, what can you treat yourself with?

What's your lipstick guilty pleasure?

  2. I know! I'm dying to pick up some redder shades ready for Christmas. I do love the formula though. Let me know what shades you end up getting!
